Jenny Dvorak
Jenny’s professional background is in the sciences and she currently works in the pharmaceutical industry. She is also member of Medway Soroptimists.
Lisa Townend
Lisa has been involved with Medway Cyrenians for the past 9 years and is the charity’s Secretary. She has 3 grown up children, and was a foster carer for ten years, caring for over 60 children in that time. Lisa went to university to study social work, qualifying in 2002 and working as a social worker for 6 years. She also runs her own local retail business.
Jo Murdoch-Goodwin
Jo is a qualified counsellor and her background has included working for charities in criminal justice settings and addiction services. She currently works independently in the Medway Towns providing counselling and consultancy services
Jim Gilbourne
Jim’s working career has always been within the financial services industry, most recently as Deputy Chief Executive of a bank dedicated to supporting and funding the charitable sector.
Jim is also our treasurer.
Ross White
Ross has an academic background in both business and physical sciences, but his working background has involved senior management within the charity sector spanning many years. Ross became familiar with Medway Cyrenians following his role as external facilitator for Board awaydays.
John Norley
John has worked within the third sector for just over 12 years now, specifically in youth homelessness for the majority of that time. He has been employed in a number or roles over the years, from night support worker to CEO, and has a good understanding of the complexities of social housing, the issues facing homeless people and specifically the challenges that our communities’ young people have to overcome to become part of society.
John is passionate about social justice and inclusion, always seeks to incorporate these themes professionally. He became a trustee with Medway Cyrenians when he recognised that the charity’s aims and objectives reflect the same ethos.
John is also a trustee for YMCA England.
Chief Executive Officer
Karen Hurley
Appointed CEO in 2007, Karen was born in the Medway area and has worked in the homelessness sector for many years. Her career has spanned working extensively in the public sector (local authority and criminal justice) and the voluntary community. She is also a director for a national charity working with offenders.
